Rod is always on the cutting edge of technology and is innovative.  He knows how to streamline things to get them done in the most efficient and pleasant way possible.

What I like most about Rod is his enduring cheerfulness.  He is a deeply committed Christian and shows the highest Christian ideals of good fellowship and goodwill all day, every day and with everyone.  Rod is one of the most admirable people I know and he is an inspiration.  You can't have a bad day or stay in a bad mood when Rod is around.

I can't imagine anyone NOT voting for him.  He is up to the challenge.  People always say they want an honest, decent candidate who truly represents the people.  Rod fits the bill perfectly." - Naomi Roberts

IB removal of US History and History of the Americas

8/29/2013

What follows is a letter I sent today to the Principal of Ridgeview High School, the Chairman of the Clay County School Board as well as Superintendent Van Zant:  I urge those of you who feel the same way to echo these concerns.

I'm writing at my shocked, disappointment upon learning that our County's elite learning environment, the IB Program, had chosen to drop the AP US History and History of the Americas classes and replace them with Human Geography.

Along with other IB parents who believe it is vital that our children have a firm understanding of history to keep, as Churchill stated, "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it," I am writing on all our behalfs to urge your administration to reinstate at the very least the APUSH class and rethink your focus in this area.

At a time when progressive groups are working hard to revize and demean our great nation's history, there can be no valid reasoning for our County's brightest students to not be offered the opportunity to learn from where we've come and what makes the USA so unique, with all of it's warts, while still being the most sought after place in the world.

Many of us moved to Clay because its school system reflected our conservarive values and we believe it is much more important for these students to know the "why" than the "where" in their educational foundation of history and social studies (plus have the opportunity to earn college credit that the AP clssses provided).

We believe this to be important on so many levels so we therefore expect a prompt response. My number is below if you wish to contact me.

Sincerely,

Rod D. Swartz

If you're in Florida and you haven't registered yet you will have until 7 October to register and be able to vote in this years monumental election cycle.

The sample ballots show that this year's ballot will be 4 pages long so I encourage you to Vote By Mail and if you're skeptical of the USPS you can drop your ballot off at any of the 5 early voting locations (Middleburg Library off 218 and the Orange Park Library off Kingsley are the closest to OakLeaf).

Update

I am proud of the accomplishments made in the last four years as a District Supervisor of the OakLeaf Double Branch Community Development District (aka CDD).  While OakLeaf was hit hard with the real estate downturn, our CDD has been fiscally responsible in keeping costs low and services up.  Our CDD prioritized district spending, built in reserves for upcoming requirements, and eliminated waste while the vitality of the community was maintained.  We have also added a new Fitness Center and improved the overall look and feel of the community.   This has made OakLeaf a better and safer place to live during these difficult economic times.

I hope my hard work and efforts will result in earning your continued support and your vote this November!

The rich already pay "their fair share!"

10/7/2011

According to 2008 IRS data, the U.S. collected $1.0315 trillion in income taxes:
    • $721.4 billion - collected from the top 10% of earners
    • $605.7 billion - collected from just the top 5% of earners
    • $392.15 billion - collected from just the top 1% of earners
    • $27.billion - collected from the entire bottom 50%
So yes, Mr. President, the rich already pay "their fair share."  In fact, what the rich pay is quite "unfair" as a percentage of the whole when the top 10% are paying are paying 70% of the taxes!!

Currently, unemployment is at 9.1%. Over 20 million Americans are out of work, or unable to find full-time work; nearly 5 million more have given up looking for jobs altogether.

President Obama's solution to all this misery?

TAKE MORE MONEY FROM THE PEOPLE WHO PRODUCE PRIVATE SECTOR JOBS!

How many times will the Obama Administration and liberals try the same things over and over again before they realize their ideas don't work?  How many more of these failures can the American people afford?

Get involved in the political process, know the difference between facts and rethoric or you can expect the situation to worsen.

Government Pick-pockets

Next time someone touts to you the virtue of this or that government program, tell him that we should never encourage governments to create new programs, because it really just encourages them to beggar us all. Quote Adam Smith: "There is no art which one government sooner learns of another than that of draining money from the pockets of the people."
